December Update on the Refurbishment
Thanks very much to Richard for providing the following update and photos.
Working inside

Orientation: looking towards the Kitchen.
The remainder of flooring has been laid in the Kitchen and Bar area. Insulation is complete on the end wall.

In these pictures the ceilings have started to be insulated.

Working on the Link Wall

Orientation: Looking in to The Old Office with its outer wall removed.

A new concreted pad and brick pier have been laid beneath the position of a new post which will support a steel beam.

New timber ‘sole plate’ which is laid to form the ‘Link’ between the two buildings.
Note the vertical timbers which are part of the post support for a high level steel beam.

The ‘Link’ wall has been started.

The new ‘Link’ wall is complete and work has begun on forming the roof.

Installing steel beams

Christian Harrity and his team have prepared one of the three steel beams which will be lifted into position onto two timber posts.
Note the large post built into the wall which is immediately above the newly formed brick pier.

Here the two post tops are being prepared for accepting the steel beam while Christian and Dave line up the beam on the hoist.

Dave works the hoist and Christian, Ollie and Nick line up the beam above the two posts.

The beam in position on top of one of the posts.

The ridge beam is soon laid in position.

Working out the exact height of the ridge beam before securing it.

Two of the three beams are now in position. The third beam will be sited in the Canteen.
Third steel beam in situ.
The tird beam was set in place yesterday and means all the steels are now in place.

The third piece of steel is in place within the Canteen. This forms the opening into the ‘Link’.

The existing rafters have been cut to accept the ‘goal post’. The underside of the steel beam will govern the ceiling height through into the adjoining section of the Social Area.

A view looking through from the Canteen. Note the existing timber wall on the left will be removed and the full effect of the new look to the Social Area can then be fully appreciated.
