The following information applies only to open tournaments run and managed by Sussex County Croquet Club (SCCC). Internal competitions, SECF competitions and Croquet Association (CA) sponsored national tournaments must be entered in the usual way and not from this site.
For most of the tournaments listed in the summer season you will need to be a member of the CA, either individually or by virtue of your club membership. There are different entry fee bands on the entry form reflecting the new types of CA membership:
CA Premium Member: premium membership of the CA is the successor to being a CA tournament member.
Standard: any other membership of the Croquet Association, for example, by virtue of belonging to a registered croquet club, or student or overseas croquet organisation membership.
Host Club Member: SCCC offers a discount on the standard entry fee to its own members for entry to its own tournaments.
Host Club & CA Premium: SCCC offers a discount on the Premium entry fee to its own members who are also Premium members of the CA for entry to its own tournaments.
There are in general no eligibility requirements for entry to winter tournaments (ie those run October -March). The Club generally offers a discount on the entry fee for its own members. Any other entrant should choose the Standard Fee rate.
You can enter an open tournament at SCCC in two ways:
Whichever method you use, please give an email address if at all possible.
Please note that payment must be made before your place will be confirmed. As a general rule we do not accept payment on the day for summer season tournaments, unless you are an overseas player visiting the UK, for whom normal payment methods may be difficult.
Entry for doubles competitions
Because doubles competitions need to be arranged with an entry in multiples of 4 players, it is highly advisable to enter early to be assured of a place. Nearer the closing date, the 17th, 21st or 25th player will be told they are on reserve pending 3 additional entries.
If you want to enter with a partner, please make sure that player also makes an official entry, or do it for them. Giving your partner's name on the form in the space marked 'Partner' is insufficient; you must make it clear on the paper entry that you are entering for both parties and pay accordingly, or complete two on-line forms, one for each player.
If you want to check the status of your entry, click here. It will show:
Withdrawing from open tournaments
If you withdraw from an open tournament before the closing date, the club will return your entry fee, but will in general charge an administrative fee of £5.00
Withdrawal after the closing date (generally one week before the tournament date) will result in the loss of the entry fee.
Only your name and the status of your entry is shown in the tournament list on the website. However, if you wish to keep your entry private, please enter by post and ensure the Tournament Secretary is aware of your request.
Please report problems or errors to the Tournament Secretary.
